Cars: #6 - 1990 Honda Accord LX 4 Door

The other day I was goofing around on Wikipedia, and for some reason I bumped into the entry for the Ford Pinto, a completely little econo-car from the 70's. Perhaps more significant was that it was one of my very first cars. So I decided to make a list of all the cars that I/Kristie & I have owned. I started looking for pictures, and that's how we got here.

1990 Honda Accord LX 4 Door

Before Kelly was born, we had decided that we needed another car, since we had sold my Civic even before we moved into our house. Naturally, the car was to be a Honda...but we did look at other options. Subaru had just introduced the Legacy, and I was intrigued with the AWD. We drove it and it was nice car, but in the end it wasn't a Honda and I couldn't convince Kristie that she would look "cool" driving a Subaru wagon (neither of us liked the Legacy sedan). We also drove the Civic AWD Wagon, but it was very gutless and wasn't much bigger than the Civic Si, except for 4 doors.

So 3 days after Kelly was born, we headed over to the dealership and bought a brand-new Accord LX sedan. Sure it wasn't AWD, but that was okay. Not a wagon, but Kristie wasn't ready for that anyhow. It had a number of firsts for our little family: first 4 door (we were a "family" now), first car with A/C, power windows & locks, and built in cup-holders! It also had those annoying motorized seatbelts...which were totally goofy, but did give us and insurance discount. We bought the 5 speed because I still wasn't going to let go of my cheapness (automatics were more expensive...)
It was (and still is) a very dependable, sturdy vehicle that is today my mom's car as it was a player in one of my dad's and mine many car swap deals.

A teacher's credentials...

Kristie told me this funny story..... The School has been blessed for years with a teacher who has dutifully taught yearbook class to the Senior High students. She abruptly resigned a couple of weeks ago, for personal reasons and nothing to do with the School or the job per se. In a mad scramble, the principal scrounged up a "suitable" replacement. This replacement was described as "a mom". Fast forward to yesterday. Kristie was doing new employee orientation and this new hire was present. Kristie did emphasize this person seems to be a terrific individual and an all around nice lady. When Kristie introduced herself she stated: "So you're the new yearbook teacher....nice to meet you". The new hire replied, "Thanks, do you know anything about this yearbook stuff? Because I don't..." Kelly signed up for yearbook this year...she already has Digital Photography, a questionable class and now Yearbook. Wednesday Elective Day is going t...
