In the time since my last entry:
- We made it through the tech rehearsal, dress rehearsals and the actual productions of the Music Man. While there were sincerely times when I contemplated all sorts of dastardly thoughts, it turned out terrific in the end. The kids really came through!
- Kristie and Kelly went off to Purdy, MO to Camp Barnabas with a group of kids from school. They spent a week doing hard labor, getting the camp ready for the summer. They were exhausted when they got home.
- During the same week, Allie went downtown with another group and worked at a ministry for at-risk women. She did a lot of painting and other work. She was just as tired when she got home.
- For the second year in a row, I was home alone during this practicum week. But I got to spend my birthday at the Rockies game with David Morrow and a couple of other friends.
- We also got to strike the set during this week. A group of boys and I had a very enjoyable evening totally destroying most of the set pieces for the play. We did manage to save the flats, but they didn't fit like I thought they would in the Mobile Mini. Oh well.
- We had a major fiasco during this time about the stage extensions. They simply had to come down, right then. So later the following week, we ripped 'em down and moved to an off site storage facility. This was done without any planning or thought, so I'm sure the repercussions will echo for a while....
- The 2nd Annual Academy awards. Kelly got an Oscar for her hard work as Assistant Director...I couldn't have been more proud. Allie was up on stage, reading off awards and in the back running sound, and video. I only had to do one assist.... Plus Jerome announced next year's schedule...the girls are excited! It was truly an awesome night.
- Finished teaching for the year...probably forever.
- Went to the graduation ceremony...but sat with Kristie and the girls. Neither of us had any desire to sit with staff/faculty. It was truly cool to see a bunch of kids that I had become very close to over the years finally get to graduate. Dan, Shaf, Rachel, Soch, Greg, Charlotte, Hannah, Jeff, Brian, Mariah and Whiteshoes (probably missing a couple more...) Definitely a good bunch of kids that I'm glad I got a chance to know.
- Did our little roadie up to Minnesota to see Dave graduate and hang with Greg & Nikki. The CRV was awesome on the road. We stopped at the Music Man museum on the way up, wrapping up this last years' obsession with it (hopefully). Plus on the way home we stopped at Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills. It was short but a good vacation.
- I officially decided that I want to get a part time job...at the Apple Store. Now I just got to get them to hire me.
- Kristie officially started looking for another job. The school has finally beat her down...
- Finally got to meet Junia Charlotte Morrow, David and Erica's lovely little baby girl. Then we got to say good bye to them all as they moved up to Minneapolis. We hope to stay in touch, but we'll see.
- Kelly got a job, and is actively (sort of) looking for another one.
- Christin, Rachel and Steven visited from Atlanta. It was great to talk to these kids as adults, since we remember them as little teeney kids.
- I broke down and started shaving again. I decided that I liked facial hair less than shaving. It's still close, but shaving isn't as bad for some reason.
Certainly more has happened...I just can't remember much else. I'm sure it'll come to me!
